SWEET2019 at Dillington House was an inspiring day. So many great ideas, great people and  great  content! There were a good variety of delegates from our Somerset schools and also out-of county. Paul Edge, Deputy Head of Ribbisdale School in Lancashire shared their digital journey with us and showed how technology improved their experiences in and out of the classroom. He emphasised the point that it is all about enhancing what you already do with technology. Paul also talked about the Microsoft Learning Tools and showed us how the Immersive Reader works, helping to create an inclusive classroom.

The delegates were able to get a hands-on experience of Google Classroom and get an idea of what it can offer them. They also were able to try out Markup. Apple is expanding the photo editing abilities in iOS 10 with a new feature called “Markup” that lets you doodle, magnify, and place text on any picture you have within the Photos app.

Amy Brittan (Somerset Elim) shared some of her experiences of Data Protection and how to avoid data breaches. There are so many ‘quick wins’ to implement e.g. using auto lock features, to help minimise the risk and as Amy said, by keeping your data safe you are keeping your children safe which was a point well made.

All in all a good day! Thanks again to everybody who took part in our first SCC ICT SWEET conference.
